TIP: When Designers Rule the World With John Barratt

John BarrattBarratt, CEO of the design consultancy Teague talks about the rise and rise of the Boeing Dreamliner (also read the interesting interview I had with John and his column for more on this and other interesting insights).

I think it is fantastic when John explains about how they created a product that would fit consumer needs better: “I had the designers fly around the world five times (…), because as a designer we should champion empathy for the people, that is what it is all about for me…” Amen to that John!

Have a look at this interesting interview and as frequent flyers, let’s hope that the Dreamliner will soon be a reality for all of us ;)

Thanks to Mick Malisic for the tip (also see his interview with Stefan Sagmeister)

Motto

I believe that consumers nowadays are looking for rich sensorial, emotional and meaningful experiences, not merely for ‘just’ a product or service. It is up to the companies to challenge their designers, R&D department and marketers to (positively) influence the experiential impact of their products and services.
