Marco van Hout [Ms]

Marco van Hout holds a Masters title in New Media and Communication Technologies from the University of Twente, the Netherlands. He specializes in interaction design but also has experience in graphic design, user research and small management.

Background

When starting at the university in 1998, he founded a small webdesign company (www.2elevate.com) with his brother and they were involved in a few projects. In 2000 they decided to quit and focus again on their studies, but Marco remained active as a freelance designer. In 2001 he spent 6 months in Västerås, Sweden and studied International Business. In that same year Marco built, together with 2 friends a site which provided intermediair services for students to find a room in the city of Enschede and its surroundings. In 2002 they got together again to build a central portal for students as a solution for the highly decentralized offer of information on campus. This was such a huge succes that they founded the company Monito.

In 2003 Marco worked in Madrid Spain for IconMedialab and did research on how designers of interactive products could get insight in evoking targeted emotions.
